BAW for Barcelona Architecture Week 2018
May has been a great month for Barcelona Architecture Walks! We had the pleasure of being chosen, one more year, beside our friends from el globus vermell, to be part of the Barcelona Architecture Week 2018, organizating the Architectours: 10 days 10 districts with urban renewal.
It has been a total success, and we are so proud, many people have participated in the itineraries carried out by our leading Architects throughout the different districts of Barcelona with the aim of getting to know the architectural heritage of the city better.
Here you have our select of images.
CIUTAT VELLA. From square to square. Lead by Pia Wortham
From los Àngels square, to Gardunya, Reial or Pati Llimona square to el Forat de la Vergonya, we were talking about city and architecture from square to square.
LES CORTS. Making the neighborhood. With Jaume Prat
The itinerary followed the traces of the industrial past through different spaces, worker colonies from the 1930s, blocks of flats from the 1950s to the 1970s and got to know the urban and architectural complexity of the Illa Diagonal, the Roca Barcelona Gallery or the Camp Nou.
SANTS-MONTJUIC. From mountain to city. 29/92. With Jelena Prokopljevic
This itinerary focused on the change in the relationship between the city and the mountains that began in 1929 on the occasion of the Universal Exposition.
SANT MARTÃ. The future of cities. Lead by Ricard Pons
The itinerary drew the urban transformation from the Cerdà Plan (1859) to the present day, with the future Urban Canopy and the implementation of the first Superilla in the Eixample.
EIXAMPLE. Inhabiting a Theory. With Ricard Pons
A temporary journey from the Eixample of Cerdà to the new formulas of urban renewal applied to increase the quality of life in the city: recovery of the island’s interiors, reform of the Sant Antoni Market or private ones such as the Las Arenas Shopping Centre.
Barcelona certainly has an everyday heritage of undeniable value in its urban architecture. Architecture is the basis of the physical space that Barcelona’s residents build their lives on. So the aim behind Architecture Week is to strengthen this crucial link between architecture and citizens.
We are very happy to have been part of an event as important as Architecture Week 2018, that will help bring quality architecture and urbanism closer to the citizens.
